Here is the text from the presentation speech:
“The Scott-Farnie Medal is awarded for meritorious work in the field of Air Education.
A surveyor by profession, Steve Wood has probably seen more of the world from above
than he has ever done on the ground. He built his own aeroplane at the Cambridge
Regional College between 1998 and 2000 and has since gone on to achieve sixty-four
Federation Aeronautique Internationale approved flight records. The FAI is the world
governing body for air sports and aeronautical world records. This tally is already
the most aeroplane records set by a British pilot in a single year. He is currently
awaiting the ratification of a further fourteen records and has spent years in getting
people interested in aeroplanes and flying, and in particularly helping with sick
disabled and life-limited children. This work particularly includes Flying Scholarships
for the Disabled. In recognition of his encouragement to Air Education the Scott-Farnie
Medal is awarded to Steve Wood.”
